Prominently located on Portage Avenue in downtown Winnipeg, Portage Place is an enclosed shopping mall originally opened in 1987. While a vibrant part of Winnipeg urban fabric for decades, the mall’s stature and financial viability has diminished. Our team developed an architectural/urban design vision which redevelops the site/existing mall to maximize the development potential with an intensification program which includes retail, office and residential densities. The design strategies will engage the city fabric and create a vibrant streetscape with new format retail, restaurant and entertainment at grade and office above.
