This revitalization proposal of an existing retail property located in the Greater Toronto Area, will both speak to a future vision of planned urban growth while embracing the past regional rural spirit. The significant improvements to be gained with mixed-use intensification – combining a mix of commercial and residential densities with an integrated transit infrastructure – shall be complemented by an Urban Garden, a place for gathering, gardening, and growing closer as a community. Designed to balance the complex needs of contemporary life, a generous ‘common green’ network of connected parks and open spaces are at the heart of the redevelopment, integrating home, work, shopping, recreation, and relaxation. Flowing through the center of the site as a new focal point of community life, the community garden will link the new development with the established neighbourhoods creating a shared urban garden which celebrates this regions agricultural past and spirit of farming entrepreneurship.
